Where to start? The first thing to consider when coming up with a new entrance design is its location. If it is a new property you may have many options, though Convenience is one of the most important things to consider. All countries will have minimum set back requirements for gates, fences, rock work, lighting, etc. Be sure to check with the local building department on what the regulated back needs (usually the minimum set back is 35-40 Feet from the middle of the road). If you plan to have an Entry Gateway and if possible, keep the door at least 70-80 feet from the turn-off road. This will allow most vehicles to be pulled completely off the road while waiting for the Gate to open. Keep "Flair", (where your drive meets the turn-off road) as wide as possible. This will help your guests / visitors not to trim landscaping, rock work, lights, mailboxes, etc. when they change into your property.
