About Monitoring Midi, Teensy, and A

Monitoring G mails alarm messages upon a change in state of an external contact.

Monitoring Teensy

The Teensy is a low cost circuit board that has a native MIDI capability. Instructions for the use of Teensy with Monitoring are linked below. The Teensy is the best overall option for use with Monitoring.

Monitoring Audrino

Monitoring Audrino automatically accepts messages from an Audrino circuit assembly and G mails them to a cell phone or computer. Plug Audrino directly into its own power supply when driving external loads. The Audrino comes with a native ASCII keyboard capability and is the best choice to send both digital and analog data. Instructions for using Monitoring with the Audrino circuit assembly are linked below:

Monitoring ASCII

Monitoring accepts ASCII inputs from a mouse or a keyboard. A right click on the mouse transmits message number one. Keyboard buttons capital A through E also activate numbered alarm messages. The cursor should be out of the form's boxes and in the black area when using the ASCII feature.

Monitoring MIDI

Monitoring can accept up to 100 alarm messages from a MIDI input board. The Livid Brain J. is a lower cost MIDI input board. Purchase the cover plate along with the circuit board to allow for the connection of wires to the board. The MIDI board is a little more expensive than the other boards; however, no programming is required.

GENERAL

Monitoring automatically sends alarm messages upon a change in the state of an external digital contact. These messages are sent through an existing or new a Gmail account. Set the Gmail account to allow "Access For Less Secure Apps". The Gmail service is free. Communication requires a Wi-Fi or a cell phone connection.

Connect a device and fill out the app's form from top to bottom then press the buttons from top to bottom. Android offers voice recognition with the fill in of the app’s messages.

This app uses an OTG (on the go) cable to connect the tablet with the MIDI cable. There are many OTG cables available. The device must keep running and supplying power to the attached card. There are a few OTG cables that supply power the HOST (your device) while the app is running. The sequence that the devices are plugged in can effect the charging. Go to SETTINGS to check to see if the battery is charging. The Micro USB Host OTG Cable with Micro USB Power by Atomic Market is a low cost option that charges the tablet and provides a USB female connection. Please comment if you find other cables.

Check with your phone company to find out how to email alarm messages to a mobile device. For example, Verizon uses the format [email protected]. It may take a minute or so for the message to transmit across the various systems.

Alarms may appear repeatedly. This can overload the system and fill up your inbox. Messages are limited to 2 per minute to prevent this. Select: Unlimited to remove this restriction. I recommend the enabled option.

There are many things that can go wrong with the transmissions. They include: a low battery, a down email server, a down Wi-Fi system, or the recipient’s cell phone is in a dead zone. I do not warrant that the application always works, however, if Monitoring is properly installed and routinely tested it should be reliable.

The circuit boards should be connected to dry contacts only. If possible, keep the runs short, use shielded cables on longer runs , and use input isolation resistors. Unplug your device during intense lightning storms.
