About My GBIMPI

GBI Musi Palem Indah (Rayon 15) application

The formation of the local church GBI MPI started from the deep longing of a child of God, Bpk. Ps. Lukas Kurniadi who in 1989 decided to join the Indonesian Bethel Church which was pastored by Pastor. Thomas Setiawan, namely GBI Sion

One year later, to be exact 2003, they started an alliance on Jalan Bambang Utoyo, Sianjur III. Together with eighteen others they decided to seek shelter by sending a letter to the GBI of the Bethany congregation led by Ps. Niko Njotoraharjo in Jakarta.

While waiting for a reply letter that did not arrive, this group of 19 people also opened a prayer meeting that began at the home of Mr. Manik, in the Kentent area. This fellowship uses the name "BETHANY" Fellowship in accordance with the name of the GBI Bethany congregation, Jakarta in the hope that it can be considered as part of the GBI Bethany Jakarta congregation.

In the end of 1996, through a friend, a servant of God came from Jambi named Mr. Elby Sutardi who was then introduced to Mr. Luke. During the meeting Mr. Elby promised to pay attention to Palembang. On March 2, 1997, the association worshiped at the Lembang Hotel-Palembang, directly under the grazing of the GBI Bethany Church in Jakarta. There were 115 people in attendance.

One year later the number of congregations increased to 200 people. But so far the shepherd still does not exist, so it went on until 1998. In that year, Mr. Sapta who was a director of the Bumi Raya company in Palembang joined the GBI church of the Bethany congregation, Palembang. At that time Pak Sapta served as a worker. In October 1998 through a direct appointment from Jakarta, Mr. Sapta Tandi was appointed as the 15th Shepherd Rayon.

Under Pastor Pastor Pastor Sapta Tandi, the worship that took place at the Lembang Hotel moved again to another hotel namely the Sanjaya Hotel, the Krishna room. At this Sanjaya Hotel, from worship once, to three times.

For approximately 5 years, the church experienced a significant increase. But as the church's growth progressed, the church experienced trials regarding places of worship. The room or place used so far is a hotel whose status is rent. With a special discount (discount), the church can use the Kresna room. But worship cannot be used if the Krishna room is used for special events, such as weddings and other events.

This became a particular struggle for the church to continue to develop themselves. Because on several occasions when urging to worship, the church must find a room for worship. Of course for the long term this can be a psychological burden for the growth of the church.

So in 2008, the church took a step of faith by starting to buy a plot of land to build a church in the Kenten area. After approximately 1 year of building, in 2010 the Bethel Indonesia Church of the Bethany congregation which had changed its name to the Bethel Indonesia Church of the Musi Palem Indah congregation, began its first worship service in the new church building and had become the church's property.

In brief, within 17 years (1997 - 2014), the Bethel Indonesia church of the Musi Palem Indah congregation had experienced healthy growth. In that time span, several ministries were born out of the desire of the church to be involved in the ministry. Until now the church has continued to experience growth with several branches opened both in the city of Palembang and those also on the island of Bangka.
