O Amirul Mukminin! Assume that your soul is now at the door of death and death. Suppose you are facing the pangs of pain experienced by anyone who is about to die.

Think of the fear of people who are resurrected before Allah Subhanahu wa Ta'ala after they die, namely when Allah asks them to take responsibility for all their actions while in the world one by one. Then assume that your deeds are being counted one by one before Allah Subhanahu wa Ta'ala after you have accounted for them.

Don't stop there, keep going and pretend that you are in eternity after this reckoning (calculation of deeds) - whether that eternity is in heaven or hell.
