NUS career+ advises students on education and career planning with data insights

The NUS career+ is a mobile application jointly designed and developed by the National University of Singapore (NUS) and JobTech Private Limited. The team behind the application’s development consists of 8 NUS alumni from different cohorts and faculties and was guided by the head of NUS School of Computing.

The mobile application will advise students on their education planning and career selection by providing real-time data insights from the Singapore job market. In addition, job opportunities will also be surfaced based on the student’s skills profile and career interests. The NUS career+ makes use of Big Data and Natural Language Processing technologies from JobTech to provide real-time analysis of the skills demand in the job market, so that students can be empowered with useful information for their education and career planning.

By logging in to career+ with NUS email, students will get access to information such as their personalised skills profile and “Industry Readiness score” for specific career domains. The career+ skills profile enables students to track their skills acquisition journey by automatically consolidating skills learned from past academic modules read, while allowing addition of new skills acquired through activities/experiences outside of the classroom. For upcoming version updates for NUS career+, it will also facilitate fast job application for students by automatically generating a skills-based resume that is tailored for each and every job application, so that students no longer have to fret over the resume writing process.
