About Pulmonary Nodule Risk

Easy-to-use calculators and algorithms for the management of pulmonary nodules.

The key features of this app are the Brock and Herder risk prediction and volume doubling time (VDT) calculators that are recommended by British Thoracic Society (BTS) to assist in the diagnosis and management of pulmonary nodules.

This app has been produced by Cancer Research UK in collaboration with BTS to give clinicians quick and easy access to the calculators and the BTS guidelines for the investigation and management of pulmonary nodules.

It includes the four management algorithms that appear in the full guideline document and summarise key parts of the guidelines.

The calculators show the relevant recommended next steps for investigation and management based on the patient and nodule details entered.

These calculators and management algorithms should be used in conjunction with the full BTS Guidelines published in 2015 (Thorax 70, Supplement 2).

This app is designed as a tool for clinicians. If you are a patient concerned about your lung health or scan results, you should speak to your doctor or GP. You can also have a look at Cancer Research UK’s patient information website and talk to our cancer information nurses online or by phone.
