This book is a continuation of the book Purifying the Soul that we published previously, as an in-depth study for every believer who wants to take a more in-depth spiritual journey and dive towards the Shiddiqun and rabbaniyun states, after he has the spiritual foundations as explained in the the book Purify the Soul.

The main ideas of this book are taken from the book al-Hikam by Ibn 'Atha'illah as-Sakandari, then reviewed and corrected by Sa'id Hawwa by referring to' the Qur'an and as'Sunnah.

About the weight and value of the book al-Hikam which is the reference for the Ahlu Sunnah Wal Jama'ah tasawuf, Shaykh Said Hawwa himself said: "I chose al-Hikam Ibn "Atha" because of its popularity, because it has won the trust of many groups, because it contains amazing wisdom, apart from the fact that some parts of it are misunderstood, giving rise to big mistakes in the halaqahs of the Sufis. Therefore the study of al-Hikam is a correction for this wrong understanding, in addition to deepening one discipline knowledge that has almost been erased."

We were told by our teacher, Shaykh Muhammad al-Hamid, that Ustadz al-Banna taught that he had written four notes on some of his syarah. However, because no manuscript has been found on this matter from Ustadz Hasan al-Banna that has come down to us, we hope that the syarah written by one of his madrasa students will be a substitute for him ."
