Personal portfolio of Riccardo Crocetti

My name is Riccardo Crocetti. I was born in Lucca, but as soon as I turned three, I went to live with my family in Aosta. I was born on February 26th, and the move took place on March 1st. I say this because I have many memories of the Lucca period, which date back to when I was two years and eight months and two years and ten months.

In addition to remembering the house in which I lived, I remember that in my street I often saw children older than me making kites, which they then flew into the sky. The first drawings I made were about kites. I have never attended any art school. I am self-taught, however in the past I have followed various types of courses. When I turned fifteen I had a very serious psychological crisis, which I carried with me until I was twenty. I still have some slightly distressing drawings from that period. When I was twenty I went to live in Holland for about a year. . I wrote a diary from that period and I would like to publish it as well as another, which I have already published, which is entitled: "The Death March". You can read it by going to "Kepown library". In 1976 I found a job, teaching, and from then on I continued to do so for forty years. At the age of thirty, I began to paint in oils, self-taught, for three years, copying the works of the great masters of the past (Medmling, Liotard, Chardin, Watteau, Klimt, Silvestro Lega etc.). I achieved good results, but in 1990 I moved to Liguria for personal reasons and stopped painting. I did something every now and then, but not much. However, I attended a course in Sanremo on antique gilding and lacquer for two years with Antonio Maglione (in 1995/1996 and 1996/1997).

From 1997 to 2003 I went to live and work in Ethiopia. In Ethiopia, once a month, for about ten months a year, I wrote a summary of my travels (I did many there and then to Kenya, Tanzania and finally to Yemen) and I made cartoons in an Italian newspaper in Addis Ababa

In July 1999 I took a graphics and computer graphics course in Florence, at the Spinelli Institute.

In July 2003 I took a chalcography course in Florence, at the "Il bisonte" Institute.

From 2003 onwards I have always made sketches and watercolor drawings in notebooks, this is the reason why I have very little material ready for exhibitions.

On September 1, 2003 I returned to Italy, to Bordighera and enrolled in the faculty of Political Sciences in Turin.

From November 2006 to 4 September 2004 I went to work in San Gallo (CH) and from 4 September 2008 to 31 August 2011 I went to work in Asmara (Eritrea). I graduated in political science in March 2019.

Being retired, I started working with oil painting and I will never stop as long as I am alive, health permitting, because the job I wanted to do in this life was and is painting.
