ShakeAlertLA will no longer send earthquake alerts to users after December 31, 2020. Residents who want to receive earthquake early warning notifications should download the MyShake app which is available on Google Play.

This update notifies ShakeAlertLA users who may experience shaking from earthquakes of magnitude 4.5 or greater within Los Angeles County. This was previously magnitude 5.0 or greater. Event time now displays in Pacific Standard/Daylight Time. Interruption (do not disturb) setting options allow users to be notified of an event when on silent mode. An explanation is provided on how location data is being used. And, a link to a demo of what an alert will look and sound like is provided.
