Soweto TV - Community Television Channel

Soweto Community Television (Soweto TV) was established in 2000 and was officially

registered as a section 21 company (now NPC) in 2004, with its first taste of broadcasting

in 2005. The station started uninterrupted broadcast in 2007, with the first successful test

signal on the 27th June 2007.

Seven years later and Soweto TV has gone from a start-up on zero capital to a station

that continues viewership growth year on year. Soweto TV employs about 100 staff, with

the majority being youth from the community and surrounding areas.

Headed by Station Manager Wandi Nzimande, a Board of Directors and a management

team , the station has grown by leaps and bounds, starting with a viewership of just

200 000 in 2008.
