SpeechLab 2.0

High quality synthesizer of Bulgarian speech.

SpeechLab 2.0 is a high-quality synthesizer of Bulgarian speech developed by the Bulgarian Association for Computational Linguistics. With SpeechLab 2.0, Android mobile phones and tablets under Android can benefit from speaking in Bulgarian with Gergana's voice. Reading speed and speech can be controlled by system settings.

With SpeechLab, navigation applications can speak correctly in Bulgarian as well as navigation commands as well as the names of streets, villages and towns. SMS messages can be automatically read aloud at the time they are received. Electronic books, texts, documents or PDFs in Bulgarian can also be read aloud instead of being read from the screen.

Using a suitable screen reader (eg TalkBack), SpeechLab makes the screen captions that we touch. This functionality has been successfully tested by visually impaired people. Speaking of predefined phrases can help people with speech disorders.

Various applications are available from Android application sites that read out WWW pages, RSS news, e-mail messages, and so on. All of them can use SpeechLab to speak Bulgarian texts.

IMPORTANT:

   1. If you have an old version of SpeechLab 2.0, it is recommended that you uninstall and delete the Gergana voice data from the SD card before installing the current version.

   2. After installing the application, you also need to install the Gergana voice data. This is the first time you open the SpeechLab 2.0 settings by following the instructions in the popup window.

   3. To use SpeechLab 2.0 as the default synthesizer, you need to log in to the Synthesized Speech or Text to Speech settings section of the device settings after installation. There you have to choose "SpeechLab 2.0" from the options.

   4. After performing the above steps to read a text, file, message, or other, you need to have a voice interface app that has the appropriate interfaces. Such applications include, for example, Google Translate, Google Navigation, Google TalkBack, @Voice Aloud, and many others available on Google Play.
