About TAI World Clock with Calendar

International Atomic Time (TAI) World Clock, together with a calendar.

The International Atomic Time Standard, known and abbreviated also by its French name, Temps Atomique Internationale (TAI), is the world-wide atomic time standard, based on an average of over 200 atomic clocks all over the globe. The TAI standard forms the basis of all existing timekeeping. At its core it is a straight count of SI metric seconds since 1958-01-01 at midnight, Greenwich, the so-called "Epoch Time". However it is not usually used directly, rather being instead passed to the UTC, the Coordinated Universal Time, which features discontinuities called leap seconds, and then gets further adulterated by time zones to local time.

This clock provides a straight readout of the TAI, to as close as the system can give, in terms of a pure linear count of seconds. In addition to this, a calendar is provided that indicates when the beginning (midnight) of each local day of the year is on this scale. It makes a good companion to our other app, the SI Metric Clock.

This app is licensed under GNU LGPL v2.1 and uses the Time4J/Time4A library by MenoData. Directions to the source code are included in the app.
