Tansa is a small sized Tambua, and is hit with two special rattan blades. Its function is because it is the command for Tambua musicians. The dancer is the leader of the Tambua group, and it is what determines the type of song / rhythm to be played.

Whereas Tambua is made from certain perforated wood staples. The size varies. Some are large, with diameters of around 50 to 60 cm. Tambua type is called Tambadang Gadang. Tambua with a diameter of 25 to 30 cm, called Tambua Kaciak (small drum). The number of tambua in a group is usually 6 to 12.

Tambua tansa can serve to gather people. Usually, at gorongroyong road construction, or construction of other public facilities, tambua tansa services.

Usually, the group leader, or the nagari leader performs tambua tansa at the location of mutual assistance in the morning. Thundering tambua tansa will call mandatory goro quickly come to the location.

In marriage (feast), Tambua Tansa is so important, as a lively atmosphere. The atmosphere will be bland without the roar of tambua tansa.

Tambua tansa is also used to welcome guest of honor. Usually during official visits to the nagari, such as the regent, deputy regent, police chief, governor, camat, and others.
