The application “Speech Therapy: Verbal Articulation Exercises” is intended for children who are being accompanied in Speech Therapy. It promotes the articulatory training of speech sounds in different positions of the word in a fun and dynamic way, through games and exercises with real and appealing images. It can also be used by adults.

Application Content

The application allows you to practice 19 Portuguese-European sounds (B, CH / X, C, D, F, G, J, L, LH, M, N, NH, P, R, RR, S, T, V and Z) in different positions in the word and syllable. That is, the child can practice the articulatory production of each sound in:

- Initial word position (B, CH / X, C, D, F, G, J, L, M, N, P, RR, S, T, V and Z)

- Medial word position (B, CH / X, C, D, F, G, J, L, LH, M, N, NH, P, R, RR, S, T, V and Z)

- Final syllable position (CH / X, J, R)

- Consonântico Group (L, N, R)

For each sound and position in the word / syllable there are 4 games:

- “Find” game: allows you to work with the identification capacity, and the child will have to find the image corresponding to the word heard.

- “Repeat” game: allows you to practice the sound using an auditory model.

- “Memory” game: allows you to work on the memory capacity simultaneously with the correct sound production.

- “Record” game: allows the child to record and listen to their own sound production in words.

The words used in this application were carefully selected so that all Portuguese-European speech sounds are represented in the different word and syllable positions. The application contains real images and illustrations of different themes and includes names, verbs and adjectives, which makes it a good tool for developing vocabulary.

This application was developed in collaboration with Mónica Pinheiro, Speech Therapist.

Important notes

- Although it helps to practice the articulation correction of a sound, the use of this application does not replace intervention sessions with a Speech Therapist.

- It is necessary that the child already has the ability to correct the sound in an isolated and syllable context, otherwise he should consult with the Speech Therapist who accompanies him.

- It is important that the child is accompanied by an adult in the use of this application, in order to be helped in articulatory correction.

- If you have any questions about making a sound, consult your Speech Therapist.

- This application can also be used for practice with adults.
