About Terapias de Insulina en UCI

App that calculates insulin requirements of hyperglycemic ICU patients.

In this application requiring insulin requirements are calculated hyperglycemic patients hospitalized. Two treatment regimens and different routes of administration are proposed. Intravenous insulin therapy, recommended in unstable critically ill patients (ICU), and subcutaneous-pattern-intensive in those stable patients tolerate oral intake or enteral nutrition. For these calculators elaboraciàn I based on the algorithm of NICE-SUGAR trial clinical arm of the study showed a decrease in the mortality of patients admitted to the ICU if comprendiodos glucose levels between 140-180 mg / dl were maintained. In stable patients, I have followed the classic recommendations that prove subcutaneous intensive insulin regimens, which aim to achieve figures included prepandriales enter 90-130 mg / dl, improve the prognosis of diabetic patients as in non-diabetics. Dose adjustment of intravenous insulin has encuenta the trend (up or down) produced in the last hour of treatment and the amount of insulin responsible for this variation. Literature and formulas used in the calculation and adjustment of dose is attached.
