About UNICEF Data Collect

Data Collection made easier

United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) in Assam is working closely with the National Health Mission, Assam in areas related to system strengthening, capacity development, facility assessment for improving the impact of the health service delivery system. The Reproductive, Maternal, Newborn, Child and Adolescent Health (RMNCH+A) strategy was launched in India Call to Action Summit for Child Survival and Development in Feb 2013. As a part of the strategy 189 high priority districts (HPDs) were identified for focused interventions. In this context, supportive supervision has been envisaged as an integral component of the RMNCH+A strategy to deal with the challenges and gaps. This involves periodic visits to different level of delivery points in the high priority districts to build capacities of facility level and frontline in a consultative and facilitation process instead of an authoritarian, inspection or control-based approach.

In the context of Assam, UNICEF has been contributing to the efforts of National Health Mission (NHM) as a Development Partner in the respective districts of Assam. One of the key contributions has been to develop the comprehensive information communication technology (ICT) solutions for both RMNCH+A and Routine Immunization (RI) programmes. The open source platform includes a mobile application for collecting data during monitoring visits to delivery points, cold chain points, immunization session sites, and community visits. An upgraded version including most recent checklists as well as revised dashboard is now available.

The Call to Action will be a shared platform for concerned ministries and inter-ministerial dialogue for the centre and states, Global and Indian expertise, good will ambassadors, private sector, civil society, media and faith-based organizations to share experiences and challenges; celebrate successes in maternal, newborn and child survival and development programmes; and, pledge to recommit them-selves to address challenges in implementation. The ministry will launch an enabling strategic roadmap (RMNCH+A) with and other development initiatives as community based management of acute malnutrition and screening for congenital disorders; engage with all partners to arrive at actionable goals and commitments for high-burden states aimed to reduce the deaths of children from preventable causes.
