Discover, understand and improve your CO₂ footprint with Vattenfall Naturate - your new companion for a more sustainable everyday life and climate-conscious action.

Climate change and its consequences are indisputably one of the greatest challenges of our time. Your personal impact on the environment and the climate is negligible. However, a collective, sustainable awareness and increasing demands on environmentally friendly guidelines and products are an important key to reducing CO₂ consumption throughout Germany and ultimately around the world. Therefore, with Vattenfall Naturate, we want to contribute to environmentally conscious action in five different areas and motivate you to behave sustainably:

1. Calculate

Based on your input, we can calculate your personal CO₂ footprint and compare it with the German average. To do this, we ask you a few quickly answered questions that cover different areas of life and should give you a feeling for CO₂ consumption in your everyday life.

2. Compare

With our calculator, your carbon footprint is calculated quickly and gives you the opportunity to compare yourself with the average in the individual areas. So you can see where you possibly use a little more or less CO₂ than others.

3. Reduce

There are many simple measures that can be used to reduce your CO₂ footprint, and you can often save money in the process! We give you personalized suggestions for a greener lifestyle by introducing you to various challenges and tips that enrich your everyday life.

4. Balance

Even if reducing and avoiding CO₂ should always be the first choice - some emissions simply cannot be avoided. In order to still give you the opportunity to further offset your footprint, you can also offset your emissions directly in the app. Various certified climate protection projects are available here.

5. Inform

In order to offer you the opportunity to deal with the topic of sustainability and an environmentally conscious lifestyle, we are currently in the process of setting up a “wiki” in which you can find out more about various topics relating to the carbon footprint and environmental protection.

When calculating in the CO₂ calculator, we are currently looking at six different areas of life, all of which count towards the final footprint as follows:

Shopping: First, your consumer behavior is classified and the emissions that arise, for example, from production or transport.

Living: Here we ask about your energy requirements for electricity and heat, as well as the fabric of your home.

Air travel: At this point, the length and duration of your travel by plane is requested.

Nutrition: Here we need information about your eating habits, which influences the production and transport of food.

Mobility: Finally, we ask about your movement in everyday life, for example when commuting by car.

Public emissions: Added to this is your share of the footprint of public facilities, for example in road construction.

In our compensation projects we work together with South Pole and rely exclusively on projects with the Gold Standard. In this way we can be sure that your compensation actually arrives and that it serves to protect the climate.
