About VoIP Bandwidth Calculator

VoIP Call Bandwidth Calculator

VoIP Calc is a simple Voice Over IP Call Bandwidth Calculator. It is loosely based on Cisco's Voice Codec Bandwidth Calculator found on their website.

On the main screen use the spinners to select the codec, bitrate, payload size and any VPN overhead and the app will calculate the amount of bandwidth needed for a voice over IP call. Fill in the number of expected users and it will also calculate the total bandwidth required using the given settings.

There are checkboxes for enable cRTP (+Checksum) and to add an additional 5% overhead.

Sliding the small arrow at the bottom up will reveal more info on the settings used in the calculations.

Flick the screen from right to left and the app will calculate the number of calls available on certain popular circuit rates with the given settings.

On this screen you can also enter a custom circuit rate by entering you chosen value in the text field and hitting the "ReCalc" button. The list will be recalculated with you custom circuit at the top.

Finally the Converged checkbox will only allow calls to use 33% of a given circuit speed for when you are interested in how much a circuit can provide in a converged network.
