When you allow your mind to wander or become unfocused, a different area of the brain - called the Default-mode Network - is activated. Research has identified that this unfocused mind-state triggers the brain to retrieve memories and link ideas, which in turn helps to recharge the brain, improve mood, and boost creativity and problem-solving outcomes.

You can be walking, going off to sleep, starting the day, commuting on public transport, at work or on vacation. Build it into your daily well-being routine. How to Wander

When you press start, you will generate a prompt, we call a Wander. It might be “You are time travelling”, “Walking in the rain” or “The month of June” and is to get your session started. If you want to start somewhere different, you have the option to skip to another Wander prompt.

The 120 second timer provides a time guideline, but you can Wander for as long or as short a time as you choose.

Using your Wander prompt to disengage from your current situation, just relax and let your mind wander where it will. You can close your eyes, stare out the window, watch the timer, but the key is to just relax into your wandering. You might be taken to an event, a place, people, or a time in your past. Your wanderings can be as real or as fantastical as you want to make them. There is no one way or right way to Wander. It is your imagination and memories - let them come and take you where they will.

If for any reason your wanderings become uncomfortable or negative, simply come back to the Wander prompt and head in a different direction. You are always in control.

The app will sound at 120 seconds. You can finish your Wander, keep going, or choose another one.

We have provided an option to complete feedback on how your Wander helped you. This information is for your own records.

Within the app you can set up notifications to remind you to Wander, track your mind-wandering activity and check out the latest research on microbreaks, mind wandering, and the links to creativity, productivity, and mental wellness.
