Knowledge is very important because it is a path of faith and an intermediary for achieving piety. It is this faith and piety that elevates humans' position before Allah Subhanahu wa Ta'ala.

With knowledge, humans will achieve goodness, as in the hadith from Mu'awiyah, the Prophet sallallaahu 'alaihi wa sallam said:

"Whoever Allah wills to obtain all goodness, Allah will understand him about religion."

However, in seeking this knowledge we cannot be careless. Seeking knowledge also has obstacles and barriers that stand between that knowledge and those who seek it. Our salaf have provided good examples regarding the correct procedures, etiquette and methods in pursuing sharia knowledge. We hope that by emulating them and understanding the obstacles in seeking Sharia knowledge, the knowledge we gain will become useful knowledge and lead us to become people who believe and fear Him and raise our status in the sight of Allah Subhanahu wa Ta'ala.

We summarized these notes from TSL online lecture material with the book Awaa'iqu ath Thalab by as-Shaykh Abdussalam bin Barjas Alu Abdul Karim Rahimahullah and taught by Ustadz Abu Haidar As-Sundawy Hafidzahullah. We wrote this brief note to get an idea of ​​the obstacles for science students in getting blessings and benefits from the knowledge they study. This note also explains the arguments, hadith, and opinions of friends as well as advice from Salaf scholars on each of the obstacles written down.

The explanations in this book are also very light so that they are easy to understand even for beginners because Ustadz Abu Haidar As-Sundawy Hafidzahullah explains difficult meanings by providing applicable examples in everyday life. Apart from that, it also contains stories of previous scholars in their pursuit of knowledge and solutions to overcome obstacles in learning. However, in this note we have not written down all the obstacles written in the original book.

May Allah Subhanahu wa Ta'ala make it easy for us at another time to continue the notes from the original book.
