This work explains a little about the issue of education based on democracy, which is individual freedom and independence above the norm of balance between oneself and others in two aspects.

First, individual freedom and activities must occur in a controlled state so that the individual is protected from deception that is detrimental to himself and his (social) community. Second, freedom of thought and activity for every individual human being will only give birth to individualistic humans. Therefore, actualization does not only require the power of freedom, but also requires togetherness.

Islamic education in particular has its own principles, namely the principle of monotheism, equality in an open discourse which is often known as shura (deliberation/democracy), and the concept of human obligations and rights in the development of science. This is the aim of this book, namely how Islamic education plays a role in today's democratic world.

Finally, the author would like to express his thanks to the Head of UIN Alauddin Makassar and the management of the 2022 Reference Book Publishing. For all this, the author hopes that this book will become useful knowledge and be written as "Amal Jariah" in the sight of God, Aamiin.
