In the collections of 1924 poems "When We Were Very Young" and 1927 - "Now We Are Six" there are also several poems about the bear cub, although in the first one it is not called by name. In the preface to the first prose book, Milne calls the collection "another book about Christopher Robin."

The Milternous World of Animals was influenced by Kenneth Graham's novel "The Wind in the Willows," which he admired and which Shepard had previously illustrated, and also a hidden polemic with Kipling's Jungle Book.

Prose books constitute a dilogy, but each of these books Milna contains 10 stories with their own stories that exist almost independently of each other.
