The Intervention Methodology in Matosinhos - Pre-school Education ”derives from an initiative of the Municipality of Matosinhos, in 2005, with the Project“ A Ler vamos… ”, implemented in a group of schools in the municipality of Matosinhos and, successively, extended to all public schools in Matosinhos.
It is aimed at children attending pre-school education and aims to promote emerging literacy skills.
Its purpose is not to anticipate the teaching of reading and writing, scheduled for the 1st year of the 1st CEB, but to develop knowledge and skills that are facilitators and predictors of the success of that learning.
This methodology promotes the development of phonological awareness and concepts about writing, through the reading of stories, the discovery of new words and the sounds that constitute them, as well as contact with diverse printed material.
This platform of activities will create enthusiasm for formal learning of reading and writing in different contexts of the child's daily life, at school or at home, making the process more consistent.
In this way, it is assumed as a work tool for childhood educators and a resource of activities to be carried out with the family, contributing, in a playful and appealing way, to the exploration of new stories.

O “MIMepe – Metodologias de Intervenção em Matosinhos – Educação Pré-escolar”deriva de uma iniciativa da Câmara Municipal de Matosinhos e teve início no ano letivo 2005/2006 com o Projeto “A Ler vamos…” num agrupamento de escolas do concelho. Face aos resultados e à adesão da comunidade educativa, o projeto foi sucessivamente alargado a todas as escolas da rede pública de Matosinhos.
